Download E-Aadhaar Card online by Aadhaar Number, Enrolment ID (EID), or your Virtual ID (VID), through the official portal of UIDAI at eaadhaar.uidai.gov.in. Residents can now download the electronic copy of their Aadhaar Card or E-Aadhaar Card through the UIDAI website that holds the same validity as the original Aadhaar. Aadhaar Card is mandatory for the citizens of India as no government or official work is done without the Aadhaar Card because it is the Proof of Address and Proof of Identity of any citizen. When you apply for Aadhaar Card, then it can up to 90 days for the generation of the Aadhaar card and the arrival of the Aadhaar Card.

Usually, this time period is less but according to the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), the process can take up to 90 days. During this time period of the Aadhaar Generation, you can avail the government services and welfare schemes by downloading the E-Aadhaar Card that has the same validity as that of the original Aadhaar Card. Just like the original Aadhaar Card, your Electronic Aadhaar Card can be used for all verification purposes and contains all the information regarding an individual including biometric data, demographic details, Aadhaar number, photograph, name, date of birth, and sex.

There are three methods by which you can download your E-Aadhaar Card. You can download E-Aadhaar Card by:

  • Aadhaar Number
  • Enrolment ID (EID)
  • Virtual ID (VID)

Download E-Aadhaar Card by Aadhaar Number:

Here is how you can download the E-Aadhaar Card by Aadhaar Number through the website of UIDAI:

  1. Go to the Official Website of UIDAI.
  2. Go to My Aadhaar > Download e-Aadhaar.
  3. You will be redirected to a new web page. Select the Aadhaar Number option.
  4. Enter your Unique 12-Digit Aadhaar Number in the given field.
  5. If you don’t want your Aadhaar Number to be visible on E-Aadhaar Card then you can select the ‘I want a masked Aadhaar’ option.
  6. Enter the captcha code in the given field.
  7. Click on the Send OTP button. You will receive an OTP on your mobile number that is registered with your Aadhaar Card.
  8. Enter the OTP in the given field and click on the Verify and Download button to download the e-Aadhaar card.
  9. The E-Aadhaar Card will be in the form of a password-protected PDF file. The password of the PDF is the combination of the first 4 letters of the name in CAPITAL and the year of birth (YYYY). For example;
    • Name: RAMEEN SHARMA
    • Year of Birth: 1994
    • Password: RAME1994

Download E-Aadhaar Card by Enrolment ID (EID):

Here is how you can download the E-Aadhaar Card by Enrolment ID (EID) through the website of UIDAI:

  1. Go to the Official Website of UIDAI.
  2. Go to My Aadhaar > Download e-Aadhaar.
  3. You will be redirected to a new web page. Select the Enrolment ID (EID) option.
  4. Now, enter your 14-digit Enrolment ID and 14-digit Date-Time stamp printed on the Enrolment Slip.
  5. If you don’t want your Aadhaar Number to be visible on E-Aadhaar Card then you can select the ‘I want a masked Aadhaar’ option.
  6. Enter the captcha code in the given field.
  7. Click on the Send OTP button. You will receive an OTP on your mobile number that is registered with your Aadhaar Card.
  8. Enter the OTP in the given field and click on the Verify and Download button to download the e-Aadhaar card.
  9. The E-Aadhaar Card will be in the form of a password-protected PDF file. The password of the PDF is the combination of the first 4 letters of the name in CAPITAL and the year of birth (YYYY). For example;
    • Name: RIA
    • Year of Birth: 1988
    • Password: RIA1988

Download E-Aadhaar Card by Virtual ID (VID):

Here is how you can download the E-Aadhaar Card by Virtual ID (VID) through the website of UIDAI:

  1. Go to the Official Website of UIDAI.
  2. Go to My Aadhaar > Download e-Aadhaar.
  3. You will be redirected to a new web page. Select the Virtual ID (VID) option.
  4. Enter your Unique 16-Digit Virtual ID Number in the given field.
  5. If you don’t want your Aadhaar Number to be visible on E-Aadhaar Card then you can select the ‘I want a masked Aadhaar’ option.
  6. Enter the captcha code in the given field.
  7. Click on the Send OTP button. You will receive an OTP on your mobile number that is registered with your Aadhaar Card.
  8. Enter the OTP in the given field and click on the Verify and Download button to download the e-Aadhaar card.
  9. The E-Aadhaar Card will be in the form of a password-protected PDF file. The password of the PDF is the combination of the first 4 letters of the name in CAPITAL and the year of birth (YYYY). For example;
    • Name: SURESH KUMAR
    • Year of Birth: 1990

Recover Lost/Forgotten UID/EID

Follow the steps below to recover your lost/forgotten UID(Aadhaar No.) /EID (Enrolment ID):

  1. Go to the Official Website of UIDAI.
  2. Go to My Aadhaar > Retrieve Lost or Forgotten EID/UID.
  3. Select whether you want to retrieve Aadhaar No. (UID) or Enrolment ID (EID).
  4. Enter your full name, registered mobile number, or registered email address along with the captcha code.
  5. Click on the Send OTP button.
  6. You will receive an OTP on your registered mobile number/email address. Enter the OTP in the given field.
  7. Your UID/EID will be displayed on the screen now.

Check Aadhaar Card Status

If you have applied for Aadhaar Card or had it updated at an Enrolment/Update Centre then you can find out its status through the website of UIDAI. The process is simple and easy.

Here is how you can check the status of your Aadhaar Card whether it generated or updated:

  1. Go to the Official Website of UIDAI.
  2. Go to My Aadhaar > Check Aadhaar Status.
  3. Here enter the Enrolment ID (EID) and Time of Enrolment. You will find EID and time of enrolment at the top of your enrolment/update acknowledgment slip.
  4. Enter the captcha in the given box and click on the Check Status button.
  5. Aadhaar Card Status will be displayed on the screen.
