Patta Chitta are land documents that prove a person’s right over the property and you can view or download these documents online through eservices.tn.gov.in. The government of the State of Tamil Nadu has launched the Tamil Nadu eServices Portal through which the Patta Chitta and other land records can be accessed by the citizens online. The objective behind this portal is to make it easier for the residents of the state to access their land records by sitting at home without having to go anywhere.

A Patta is a revenue record of a piece of land that is issued by the State Government and it is also known as the Record of Rights document. The Patta of a piece of land contains important information such as the Patta number, name of the district, taluk, and village, owner’s name, survey number and subdivision, wetland/dryland, area of land, and tax details. Chatta is a land document that contains various details about the piece of land such as the area, size, ownership of the property, and also whether the land is dry or wet.

Applying for the Patta Chitta Document Online

You can apply for the Patta Chitta Document online and get it easily. The whole process is simple and easy. Here is how you can apply for the Patta Chitta Documents online through the web portal:

  1. Visit the e-Services Web Portal of the Government of Tamil Nadu.
  2. On the homepage, click on the View Patta & FMB / Chitta / TSLR Extract link.
  3. On the next page, select your District, and Area Type.
  4. On the next page, you will have to select your Taluk, Village, and View Patta using Patta Number or Survey Number options.
  5. Provide all the required information.
  6. Enter the Captcha Code and click on the Submit button.
  7. A certificate from the Town Survey Land Registrar with details about your property such as locality, type of land, survey number, etc will be displayed on the screen.

The fee for applying for the Patta document online through the eServices Portal of the Government of TN is Rs. 100 and you will have to pay this fee via online payment options available to get the Patta document.

Know Your Application Status

You can also check your online Patta document Application status then you can do so through the online portal. Here is how you can check out the Application Status:

  1. Visit the e-Services Web Portal of the Government of Tamil Nadu.
  2. On the homepage, click on the Know your Application Status link.
  3. On the next page, enter the Application ID and Captcha Code.
  4. Click on the Get Status button.
  5. The status of the application will be displayed on the screen.

View Patta Order Copy

Here is how you can view your Patta Order Copy through the e-Services Web Portal:

  1. Visit the e-Services Web Portal of the Government of Tamil Nadu.
  2. On the homepage, click on the View Patta Order Copy link.
  3. On the next page, enter the Application ID and Captcha Code.
  4. Click on the Submit button.
  5. The Patta Order Copy will be displayed on the screen.

Verify Poramboke Land

To verify whether the land is private or government-owned from the eServices Portal, follow these steps below:

  1. Visit the e-Services Web Portal of the Government of Tamil Nadu.
  2. On the homepage, click on the Verify Poramboke Land link.
  3. A new web page will appear. Here you will have to select your District, Taluk, Village. You will have to enter the Survey Number and Subdivision Number.
  4. Enter all the required information and click on the Submit button.
  5. The Promaboke Land with the given information will be verified online.

Transfer Patta Chitta

To transfer the Patta Chitta to someone else’s name, you will have to apply for the transfer of Patta at the respective tehsildar’s office. Make sure that you carry all the original documents and photocopies of the documents including the sale deed, tax receipts, electricity bill, and encumbrance certificate.

The fee for the Patta Chitta transfer is Rs 100 only and the application may be accepted or rejected by the Tehsildar.

Documents Required for the Patta Chitta Document

The following documents are required when applying for the Patta Chitta Document:

  • The original sale deed, as well as its photocopy, have to be submitted to Tehsildar Office.
  • Any Proof of Possession of Property such as electricity bill, tax receipt, encumbrance certificate, etc.
